Who we are

About Us

ScreenshotToPDF is a free, open-source tool built for one purpose: converting screenshots and images into clean PDF files — instantly, privately, and without sign-ups. It is maintained by a small independent team who believes online tools should respect your privacy instead of mining your data.

Why we built this

We got tired of online converters that require uploads, slap watermarks on output, or gate basic features behind paywalls. Every existing solution either stored your files on a remote server or charged for basic functionality like batch conversion. So we built a tool that does everything in the browser — no server ever touches your files.

How it works

Your images stay on your device. The conversion engine runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. We use pdf-lib to generate PDFs, Cropper.js for image cropping, Tesseract.js for optional OCR text extraction, and SortableJS for drag-and-drop reordering. Once you download the PDF, there is nothing left on our end because nothing was ever sent.

The tech stack

The site is built with Astro and Tailwind CSS v4, deployed on Cloudflare Pages. The entire conversion pipeline runs client-side — our servers only serve static assets. The project is open-source and we welcome contributions, bug reports, and feature suggestions from the community.

Our principles

  • Privacy by design — zero uploads, zero tracking, zero cookies
  • Free forever — no premium tiers, no limits, no watermarks
  • Fast and lightweight — works even on slow connections
  • Open by default — transparent about how the tool works
